A Spray Day with San Gabriel Drywall
Marcos Reyes is the sprayer for San Gabriel Drywall, a drywall contractor based in Marysville, Washington. Marcos has been spraying with AST texture sprayers for many years. He and his crew operate with two spray rigs: one from 2001 and one from 2018.
In this video, Marcos tells us his thoughts on his AST texture machines:
The Project
On this particular day, Marcos and his crew were working on an interior remodel that spanned the entire home. On a big remodeling project, it’s not hard to see how a big rig texture sprayer can make the job a lot easier. Not only does the spray rig’s output makes spraying faster, but mixing in a texture machine is a very efficient process.
Mixing the Mud
Marcos mixed a batch of drywall mud that was big enough to texture the entire home. The entire mixing process didn’t take long. For this project, he was using Beadex® Brand Quick Spray Decorative Texture. Saving time isn’t the only advantage of mixing a single, large batch of mud. Only having to mix a single batch also ensures the mud being sprayed throughout the entire home is the same consistency. This results in an even, beautiful texture.
Spraying the House
Once the mud is mixed, Marcos suits up with proper personal protective equipment to keep himself protected from the flurry of mud he will be spraying. His crew helps to unwind the hose from the spray rig. The hose on this machine is long enough to reach every room of the house easily. San Gabriel Drywall also sprays apartment buildings so the spray rig is outfitted with a long hose to accommodate those projects.
Marcos prepares his Flex Gun and then goes to work texturing the walls.
Using a Texture Sprayer for a Remodeling Project
San Gabriel Drywall was able to put up a great orange peel texture for this whole-home remodel. On the spray day, their AST texture machine made it easy to mix a large batch of mud and put up a nice, consistent texture through the entire home.
