A Closer Look at AST 270 and 350 Gallon Big Rigs
The AST 270 and 350 gallon big rigs are the largest of the gas powered rigs we make. These machines are best for contractors that want to spray large volumes of texture without stopping to mix.
Just like the 150 and 200 rigs that we highlighted previously, the details that go into the 270 and 350 rigs make them the most efficient, durable, and hassle-free spray rigs on the market. Here are a few of the features and options that make the 270 and 350 great:
Split Tank Option
This is an option with our larger capacity rigs (200, 270, & 350). Sometimes you will spray two different textures to complete a house. You can mix orange peel on one side of the tank and knockdown on the other and simply switch to the other pump and hose set when you are ready to switch textures. No more remixing to switch textures!
Large Capacity
We know you love mixing texture, but wouldn’t it be great to only have to do it once during the day? If you’re spraying a large volume of texture, the increased capacity in the 270 and 350 gallon machines allows you to spray all day and complete every job without having to mix again.
HD Pump Option
Most contractors choose to upgrade to the HD pump. Why? It increases the lifespan of pump parts and makes pump maintenance much easier. What’s included:
- Star drive components: This increases the surface area of connecting parts in the pump, making them to last up to 4 times longer than square drive components.
- Max seals: Additional protection for your hydraulic motor, keeping the mud flowing through the pump body away from the motor that turns your pump.
- Butterfly valve pump body: A valve that can be closed with the turn of a wrench, closing off the flow of mud from the tank. You can service your pump without draining the tank, saving you time and preventing messes.
Towability
Compared to something like an enclosed car trailer, the 270 and 350 rigs are relatively small trailers. Even so, we build them for the best towing experience possible. Tubular frames keep them sturdy, trailer brakes slow them down, and low profile tanks keep your rear view unobstructed while towing.
Tandem Axle Option
Some drywall contractors prefer to have a tandem axle configuration to handle the rough terrain on the jobsites or for the long highway hauls, or just for the sheer look of the tandem axle on the 270 and 350’s. Although the single axle configuration has been the recommended and preferred choice for decades here at AST, we now provide this tandem axle option.
Thousands of contractors have turned to AST big rigs over the last 50 years. The ones that spray large volumes often choose the 270 or 350 gallon rigs. We can work with you to determine if the increased capacity of these rigs would be beneficial for your business.
